Deduction of CO2 Emission
In collaboration with IMCD, a multinational company spanning over 60 countries across six continents, UFT undertook the ambitious task of developing a smart farm project for the school. This initiative aims to provide students with comprehensive training in smart farming techniques and entrepreneurship skills. Through our joint commitment to education and innovation, UFT is empowering students with valuable knowledge and hands-on experience, paving the way for a resilient and forward-looking food system.
Over the course of a year, Urban Farm Tech Sdn. Bhd., IMCD Group, and Sekolah Kebangsaan Jalan Empat Bangi collaborated closely on this project. The journey began with initial discussions and the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU). IMCD provided funding, and preparations ensued, leading to the installation of a greenhouse. A training session was conducted on December 9, 2023, followed by a test run until March 6, 2024, culminating in the official launch on March 7, 2024.
The project had several positive impacts from day 1 until 6th of March 2024. Firstly, it fostered community engagement, involving over 1,010 individuals, including students, teachers, and local community members. Secondly, it contributed to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions through the absorption of CO2 by hydroponic plants. Lastly, it generated over RM4000 as the income for the school and students, which was used to cover utilities and operational fees and provided a source of income for some students.
Through this collaborative effort, UFT has not only brought about positive change within the community but also laid the groundwork for a sustainable and prosperous future. UFT expresses gratitude to all team members and partners who played a pivotal role in the success of this impactful initiative.
