PSA: New Year Gloom. 12 Countries Predicted to Suffer from Famine in 2021

The United Nations had issued an impending famine that may 2021due to the surging coronavirus pandemic, putting millions at the brink of starvation. The head of the World Food Programme (WFP), David Beasley foresaw 12 countries, some of which had struggled with food insecurity prior to the pandemic, and worsened by so. $100million will be allocated to Afghanistan, Burkina Faso, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, South Sudan, and Yemen to fight the predicted spread of famine in 2021.

This warning clearly exposes the fragility of the food supply chain in face of global crisis. While we understand that food insecurity is perceived as far-reaching and does not directly impact us Malaysians, we hope that this announcement made by the UN is sufficient sign we should start planning a step ahead to remove any chance of food shortages our family might face in the future.
